HOW TO SPOT A FAKE RASASI
The counterfeits have got good. Here is what to actually look for, including the things that are not reliable.
Rasasi is one of the most counterfeited fragrance houses in the world, largely because Hawas sells in volume and the packaging is not complicated to imitate.
If you are buying anywhere other than an authorised stockist, here is what to check.
Start with the price
This is the most reliable signal and the one people ignore because they want the deal.
Hawas at 100ml sits around thirty to forty-five pounds in the UK. If somebody is selling it at twelve, the maths does not work. Nobody is losing money on purpose.
Check the seller, not the bottle
A UK business address. A working phone number or monitored email. A published returns policy. A company registration number.
Counterfeiters do not maintain those things, because they do not intend to be reachable after the sale.
Look at the batch code
Genuine Rasasi bottles carry a batch code, and it should appear in the same form on both the box and the bottle itself. A mismatch, a missing code, or a code that looks printed on rather than stamped is a warning.
Examine the packaging quality
Genuine boxes use good card stock with clean, sharp printing. Fakes are often close but slightly off: fuzzy edges on the logo, colour that sits a shade wrong, cellophane that is loose or crooked.
If you have handled a genuine one, a fake usually feels wrong before it looks wrong.
The spray mechanism
Genuine atomisers produce a fine, even mist. Counterfeits frequently spit, spray unevenly, or leak around the collar.
Things that are not reliable indicators
Worth saying, because a lot of advice online is wrong.
It does not last as long. Skin chemistry varies enormously, and the same genuine bottle can behave very differently on two people.
The colour looks different. Fragrance darkens naturally with age and light exposure. A slightly deeper colour on an older bottle is normal.
It smells different to my last bottle. Batch variation is real, particularly with natural materials. Oud and ambergris are not identical crop to crop.
The cellophane was already loose. It happens in shipping.
None of these on their own mean much. Price and seller are what matter.

Buy from somewhere with an address, a returns policy and a reason to care about your opinion.
