Oud is not a men's note. It never was. Where to start if you want it and do not know how.
Oud gets marketed to men in the West and that is a recent invention. In the Gulf it has never been gendered, and some of the most celebrated oud compositions in the world were built for women.

Why oud reads as masculine here and not there
Western fragrance marketing sorted notes into genders sometime in the twentieth century. Woods and leather went to men, florals and fruits went to women.
That split does not exist in Arabian perfumery. Oud sits alongside rose, jasmine and saffron in compositions worn by everybody.
So if you have avoided oud because the counter told you it was a men's note, that was a shop-floor convention rather than a fact about the material.
The pairings that work best
Rose and oud is the classic and the easiest entry point. Rose brings brightness and sweetness, oud brings depth and length. The two have been paired in the Gulf for centuries. Search interest is up more than fifty per cent year on year.
Saffron and oud is drier and more unusual. Saffron has a slightly leathery, honeyed quality that sits beautifully against resin.
Amber and oud is the warmest of the three and probably the most immediately likeable.
Vanilla and oud is the modern gourmand approach. Sweet on top, dark underneath.
How much to wear
Less than you think. Oud projects, and the base materials build on skin over the first hour rather than fading.
Two sprays is usually right. Three if you want it noticed. It is genuinely possible to over-apply oud in a way that is difficult to do with a light floral.
When to wear it
Evening and cold weather suit oud best, though that is convention more than rule. A lighter oud blend works perfectly well in daytime.
If you want something you can wear to an office, look for oud sitting under fresh or floral notes rather than leading.
